Now I Know What's Wrong - Mobile Phone Mount Review

By Taylor Collins

Everything I have tried does not even come close to the job that this one has been able to do. If you have a hard to fit phone as I do, this truly is a must have. The phone cannot be charged while in the holder so I had to return the holder and look for something compatible. I didn't get to the point of even setting it up in my car.

I'm removing two stars from what was initially a 5 star review. This product has, primarily, three components: the windshield/dashboard suction cup mount, the vent mount, and the cell phone holder that attaches to either mount.

I would recommend this to my family. Product works well; my only complaint is for the vent hooks for the device. I can't rate the windshield mount since I haven't used it. I first am trying the vent mount, and it works great on a 2008 Civic.

The bottom "feet" (or end feet if you mount your phone sideways in landscape mode) adjust outward so you can still get at the USB/charging port easily. Again, I'm not saying that this product's suction cup or vent clip are untrustworthy, but simply that I PERSONALLY do not trust my $400 baby to hang off the windshield or vent by a suction cup or two little plastic clips - no matter what the product. The housing does not block the charge or audio ports and it will hold the phone in landscape position. Great product and great buy. Maybe for cars with soft suspension it does better. The shaking was non-stop as soon as I was doing 20 mph.

It is interchangeable with another cradle that is a little bit smaller and will grip and hold your phone of G1 size or type. The other items are useful as well but it depends on your own personal preference. I use my Android phone for everything from music to navigation. It holds the phone firm and has never popped out.

The clamping base has a cut-out that allows you to easily attach a car charger or micro-USB cable without interference. Overall, this package gives you 2 great options at a decent price. I have only used the vent mount. It works better than expected. Works great. It holds my HTC Evo 4g one of the biggest phones out there and it fits it great.

The clips that go onto the vents aren't hooked in the ends, so they don't actually grip the vent. The mount can easily be pulled off without releasing the clips. Obviously this depends on the phone, mounting location, and cord. It is cool product but vent mount is not staying in the vent too good.
