Kissel is an English term referring to a common dessert soup. Its origin is associated to the Eastern Europe countries like Finland, Russia and Poland. It consists of some sweet juice, arrow roots, potato starch and the addition of red wine or dried fruits. It can be eaten when hot or cold and can also be served with ice-cream or milk cream.
